In today’s rapidly changing environment, flooding is a serious threat to many metropolitan areas. In this capital city, officials wanted to measure ground water saturation and sewer system status along its major river to implement damage control and issue evacuation notices before flooding occurred.


TeraCode developed a predictive model using data collected from ground water sensors, sewer system sensors and weather forecasting agencies to predict where flooding is most likely to occur.


A team of data scientists developed and tested multiple data modeling algorithms to identify the highest accuracy model for deployment.


The city now has a much better understanding of flooding events. It is undertaking repair efforts and infrastructure updates to further reduce flooding risks, which can cause significant disruption, displacement, cost, and sometimes loss of life.
