IoT – Detecting Toxins in the Water Supply

Challenge

This global company makes instruments for industrial process engineering, including telemetry sensors for high-level analysis of water and fluids. It was given the challenge of detecting unusual toxin levels in a country’s water supply.

Solution

TeraCode designed a system to monitor water supply by detecting poisons, automate response mechanisms by actuating shut-off valves, and trigger alerts.

Technology

Vaadin web application with plugin capabilities; Apache Derby database for storage and communication; Integration of Google Maps to display device position; REST web services.

Outcome

This project is saving lives and improving people’s health by eliminating the toxin contamination of water. There has been a significant improvement in the reliability of automated safety mechanisms.
