IoT – Automating Boiler Diagnostics
Challenge
The technicians and customers of this leading residential boiler manufacturer had no remote access to their boilers’ operational status. This lack of remote visibility contributed to an inefficient and ineffective support process.
Solution
TeraCode developed a gateway that reports status, receive commands, and stores diagnostic information. Technicians now use a mobile app for boiler status, operational control, and troubleshooting.
Technology
TeraCode provided a gateway and embedded programming on a Nordic NRF52 series chip, backend services through AWS, a Modbus communication protocol, and a data log for future analytics.
Outcome
The boiler supplier now has a robust platform that technicians use for troubleshooting. Automated servicing and parts replenishment contracts are now possible and there is an overall reduction in warranty claims.
