IoT – Automated Condition Monitoring and Parts Replenishment

Challenge

This global supplier of process automation equipment offers stock cleaning systems providing high efficiency removal of contaminants in pulp slurries. Operators had to manually check for wear and tear that affected cleaning quality.

Solution

TeraCode developed a process to commission sensors, a commissioning app, message protocol, and gateway. The system connected to TeraCode’s AppThing IoT platform to access and visualize data.

Technology

The system relied on BLE to wirelessly communicate data and uplink to TeraCode’s AppThing platform, which provided device management, data collection, cloud data storage, interactive visualizations, and AWS backend services.

Outcome

The company can now detect wear through the inner apex cyclone cone and automate replenishment of parts. This decreases cost from downtime due to unexpected failures and lack of onsite inventory.
